1st step: Define the program
We are not talking about a computer program here, but in architectural terms, the program represents your expectations and desires.
This is represented by a wish list, such as the number of rooms expected, the type of architecture, the volumetric requirements … etc …
All you need to do is take a paper and pencil if you make your house plan on paper or on your favorite note-taking software on your computer.
Personally, I prefer the paper format, but use from time to time either a spreadsheet and / or a software of the mind manager type. These software allow you to set up a hierarchy of your ideas.
This phase is a bit tedious, but essential because it will allow you to free yourself from many constraints later when you draw your own house plan.
2nd step: Harvest all constraints
And yes, writing a draft of your future home is not a pleasure, it must also respect the law and all the rules … you must therefore methodically read all the external constraints to arrive at a building envelope of the land to receive your house.

4th step: The facade composition
Knowing how to plan a house is not limited to its 2D representation, you must represent the 4 facades and compose them. The whole art of architecture lies in composing a pleasant to live house but also pleasant to see.
Your plan must take on volume and be balanced. The ratio of fillers (walls) and voids (openings) must be reflected.
