Sustainable green affordable housing development has been honored Fellwood in Southeast Construction magazine’s “Best of 2009″ award.
Sustainable Fellwood named “Best In Category” for Multi-Family Residential. The editor notes that this year was particularly competitive, with record-breaking number of entries.The annual competition recognizes construction and design excellence in the four-state region that includes Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Pioneering mix, mixed income Housing Authority of Savannah Fellwood Sustainable redevelopment has gathered national attention for its commitment to efficiency and the environment, and the design community’s attention to live.
Rooms for environmentally friendly mixed-use, mixed income development, including the preservation of trees, in place recycling, cellulose insulation, high efficiency air conditioning and heating units, and low flows of water supplies. The house has a 30 percent lower energy use and water use 40 percent less than typical construction. Sustainable Fellwood, which serves as the main component of the City of Savannah’s Westside Development Revitalization Plan, is widely regarded as a national showcase environment that is responsible for community planning. Residents began moving into Phase I, the first 110 housing units, in April 2009.
